Salary: £35 – 42k dependent on experience, plus quarterly bonus equivalent to up to £2k per annum.
Hours of work: Mon- Thursday- 8.30am-5:00pm, Friday – 8.30am- 3.45pm

Job Purpose:

The job holder is responsible for nurturing profitable business relationships with current and new customers, in the home trade and export markets.

To co-ordinate activities with customers and internal departments to ensure the highest quality customer service and promote a consistent team approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the processing of customers enquiries, quotations and order entry are handled to the highest standards.
  • Ensure that the Company’s terms & conditions are understood by internal and external customers with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with all other teams / functions on site to support effective internal planning and service provision to customer.
  • Liaise with the Sales Director / Head of Sales regarding customer accounts.
  • Primarily a site based commercial role but requiring routine customer visits in the interests of building and maintaining close relationships, enabling trust and confidence in the business.
  • Generate customer quotations.
  • Liaise with the Sales Director / Head of Sales to ensure all quotations are logged and subsequently ‘followed up’.
  • Support sales advisors regarding customer account activity, debtors etc.
  • Ensure adequate contract reviews / checks are completed in order to minimise errors & the volume and value of credit notes issued.
  • Ensure all sales, commercial and contractual policies are maintained.
  • Maintain excellent interdepartmental working relations – Commercial, Production, Planning, Quality, Technical, Warehousing, Accounts etc.
  • Log, report and respond promptly and effectively to customer concerns.
  • Develop a strong technical knowledge of products and process capabilities to ensure prompt and competent and informed information sharing with customers.
  • Suggest and implement activities / procedures that enhance customer relationships to strengthen and enhance the company’s overall market leading position.
  • Support Head of Sales with continuous review of CRM provision and automation.
  • Contribute to all aspects of the company’s marketing activities.

Communications & Contacts:

  • Regular face to face verbal and written communication with internal teams.
  • Establish the prerequisites regarding effective working relationships with current and potential customer base.
  • Attend and contribute to daily operational meetings.

People Management:

  • Mentor, coach Sales team members to develop a high performing team that exceeds agreed objectives, delivering excellent customer service, added value and continuous improvement.
  • Support career development of team members through regular 1-1’s and performance reviews.

Equipment:

  • Use a PC, Microsoft packages and ERP System.

Skills & Experience:

  • Established 2-3 years Internal sales and / or commercial management experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Close attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Continuous improvement opportunity focused.
  • Practical experience of using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel etc.
  • Working knowledge of commercial terms and conditions & export documentation requirements.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise a busy workload to meet deadlines in a fast-paced team.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Be creative and think ‘outside of the box’.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
