Job Purpose:

Lead the existing Engineering team, mentor TPM standards, coach preventative maintenance techniques, challenge and ultimately develop the existing team to next level standards.

Mentor and coach the existing team to deliver the implementation of the company’s overall engineering strategy to maximise process efficiency and productivity.

Mentor and coach existing teams to realise the optimum Engineering standard and capability of all site manufacturing assets.

Deliver a collaborative culture between Engineering and all other teams / functions on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion health and safety first initiatives, supporting the Company’s behavioural safety programme.
  • Assume responsibility for all Engineering automation projects.
  • Implement a working / robust obsolescence strategy for all on site assets.
  • Develop & implement a working asset data capture ‘condition monitoring’ system.
  • Interpret trends, analyse and review data, communicate and action as necessary to enhance the manufacturing performance of the business.
  • To appraise all site Engineers ensuring each Engineer has a PDP, career discussion and regular review recorded via HR function.
  • Liaising with the other manufacturing ‘key’ personnel (Team Leader’s, Technical, Planning) to agree the daily / weekly ‘plan’ for all Engineering activity. (Planned preventative maintenance, servicing of associated plant, compressors, cooling systems, electrical supplies & distribution, under performing assets, training opportunities etc).
  • Establish a daily routine for discussing underperforming assets, suggest, agree remedial actions to ensure optimum performance to enhance OEE (including unnecessary waste/scrap).
  • Facilitate weekly / monthly meetings to suggest / agree / implement changes to enhance the engineering operational performance of all manufacturing assets.
  • Mentor / coach and contribute to the creation and implementation of a best practice engineering vision, strategy, principles, practices, and procedures to enhance the operational and financial performance of the business.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities, ensuring the team are fully engaged.
  • Ensure all engineering necessary spare components are always available.

Communication & Contacts:

  • Regular face to face verbal and written communication with internal customers.
  • Establish the prerequisites regarding effective working relationships with OEM and key suppliers.

People Management:

  • Mentor, coach Engineering department to develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvement.

Equipment:

  • Use a PC, Microsoft packages and ERP System.

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong management experience, with the ability to coach and develop people.
  • Significant experience of working in a manufacturing facility.
  • Experience of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Close attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Continuous improvement opportunity focused.
  • Proven organisational and project management skills with an ability to handle multiple tasks working on own initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise a busy workload to meet deadlines.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with a proactive and collaborative approach.

  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Confidence to challenge established working practices, methods and techniques.
