SMART Motorway Retaining Wall

The Brief

The project entailed building retaining Gabion walls for a SMART motorway project. The primary goal of the project was structural stability; gabions would be employed to support a highway bridge vertically and laterally while remaining aesthetically pleasing. The Gabion baskets would have to be put on an active motorway; thus, the timing was critical. As all components had to be supplied at the same time, we had to make sure the panels arrived on schedule.

Our skilled team collaborated closely with the customer to ensure that their needs were delivered on schedule. The problem was to ensure that the Gabion panel we built could resist the pressure of the surrounding structures.

The Solution

With a strict time, frame, we had to get to work. We utilised our EVG mesh welding machine to produce enough Galfan-coated gabion panels in four days. We knew Galfan-coated wires would perform well owing to their strength and corrosion resistance in all weather conditions.

Due to our extensive knowledge of our machinery, we can use historical data to ensure that our machines operate at peak efficiency. This results in little to no downtime when producing the panels. Real-time data is taken on every job we do this allows us to drive efficiencies on future projects.

Communication with the customer was critical to the project’s success, with frequent updates and progress reports delivered. This contributed to the development of trust and confidence that the panels would be delivered on schedule. Before the panels were sent, quality tests were performed to ensure that the size and strength of the panels fulfilled the requirements.

The Result

The retaining motorway wall project was a success meeting the objectives and ensuring structural stability and safety while being aesthetically pleasing. Thanks to the data we use on previous projects and the ability of our mesh welding machines we can complete large scales operations efficiently and accurately.
