Q. What types of panel finishes are available at Siddall & Hilton?
A. We offer a wide range of panel finishes that cater to various requirements and environments such as:
Pre-Galvanised – Steel wire that has undergone the galvanising process before being manufactured into a panel. Pre-galvanised steel wire offers the benefit of enhanced corrosion resistance, particularly when used in combination with polyester powder coating.
Hot dip galvanised – This is where we take a completed steel panel and immerse it into a bath of molten zinc, allowing the zinc to bond metallurgically with the steel surface. This zinc coating offers steel panels additional corrosion protection. Want to learn more about the hot Dip galvanising process read our article on 10 reasons you should hot dip galvanise.
Galfan – This type of protective coating is a combination of zinc and aluminium, which provides superior corrosion protection to traditional zinc coating. Read our guide on Galfan coating for more information.
Powder coated – Also known as electrostatic spraying, this process is popular as it creates a thick and durable layer of protection for metal surfaces which is ideal for fencing solutions. In most cases, fencing panels receive triple resistance protection. A pre-galvanised wire is used and is then pre-treated with a phosphate solution, this helps promote adhesion between the metal and the coating.
Self-colour – Simply put this is steel in its raw form. The wire used does not undergo any additional surface treatment or coating after being manufactured. it’s important to note that self-colour steel wire is more susceptible to corrosion compared to coated variants. It can be used for concrete reinforcement. You may choose to hot dip to galvanise the panels and integrate them into fencing and gate systems.
Copper-washed – The copper layer has several advantages, including better corrosion resistance and conductivity for welding than your standard self-colour panel, as well as giving the mesh a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Q. Can I request custom panel finishes or specific coatings for my mesh?
A. Absolutely, if you’re looking for a nonstandard powder coating finish just call our sales team at 01484 401610 or email weldedmesh@sandhp.com and we will discuss the option as we do offer a wide range of non-standard finishes including bespoke powder coating colours.
Q. Can I order samples of different panels and finishes to assess their appearance and quality?
A. We understand the Importance of assessing the appearance and quality of our panels and finishes before making a purchase. We offer the opportunity for customers to order samples of different panels and finishes. Please note that this service is typically available for larger orders or orders that are likely to be placed. Full panel sizes will not be sent as samples.

Q. Are there any limitations or restrictions on certain mesh products or sizes?
A. Everything depends on the capabilities of our machines. As they have certain limitations and restrictions. The maximum width we can manufacture is 3660mm, and we are currently unable to create panels that exceed this width.
Q. Do your panels utilise recycled steel wire?
A. Steel is one of the most recycled metals in the world as it does not reduce its quality after repeated use. We are proud to be using 100% recycled steel wire on all our products.
Q. Do you offer certificates of conformity for your products?
A. Yes absolutely, please get in contact with the sales team on 01484 401610 if you require a certificate, such as our ISO 9001.
Q. Does your product line include welded mesh rolls or expanded mesh?
A. Unfortunately this is something we do not offer as we are exclusively a manufacturer of welded mesh panels.
Q. Are your panels CE marked?
A. CE marking is not a requirement of BS 4449:2005 and reinforcement cannot be CE marked. Therefore, since there is no Harmonised Standard, a Declaration of Performance is not necessary.
